January 4th, 2012

Wow! It is exciting to see so many students and staff members reading for Battle of the Books! I have been so impressed to hear some of the thoughtful comments and questions!

Please remember that the Baldwin Library has invited Helen Frost, author of Diamond Willow, to speak to students at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 9.  I hope to see you there!

Second Grade Research

October 29th, 2011

Second graders have been working on researching sea life.  Working with a partner or small group, students researched information using Pebble Go, an online database.  They took notes, wrote scripts, drew illustrations and recorded their scripts using VoiceThread.

Kindergarten Scientists

October 25th, 2011

Kindergarteners practiced science skills during media center time this week.  We observed, asked questions, made hypotheses and experimented with our shadows.  We used books based on the kindergarten science curriculum.  We also pantomimed, made silhouettes and explored shadows inside.

Take a look at our scientists in action!

Summer Reading at Baldwin Library

June 10th, 2011

Librarians from Baldwin Public Library came to Beverly on Tuesday to let students know about all of the fun activities taking place during the summer reading program.  This year’s theme is “One World, Many Stories,” and the librarians have prepared a summer full of exciting activities!

Flyers were sent home with all students after the visit.  If you need another one, stop by the media center or Baldwin Library to pick one up.  You can also find information on Baldwin Library’s website: http://baldwinlib.org/summer-reading-11/

Come to the Summer Reading Open House at Baldwin Library on the last day of school, June 17, 1:00-5:00.  You can sign up, play games, make crafts, win prizes and meet Scoop the Newshound from the Birmingham Eccentric!

All Books Due June 3

May 31st, 2011

The end of the year is quickly approaching!  All media center materials are due Friday, June 3.

Turning books in before the end of the year gives us time to inventory the collection and settle student accounts.  We will also be getting new carpeting in the media center over the summer, which means that the books must be boxed up and moved out of the media center before the last day of school.  It will be a lot of work, but the media center will look fantastic next year!

Questions about student accounts?  Ask Ms. Arslanian!
