At West Maple Elementary School we recycle with companies like Terra Cycle and Cartridges for Kids. With Terra Cycle we collect items at lunch like capri sun, kool aid and honest kids juice pouches. We collect empty chip and cookie wrapper from Frito Lay and Nabisco. Empty zip loc storage containers and bags. We even collect empty elemers glue bottles and sticks and scotch tape containers and the plastic ring in the center of the tape.
With Cartridges for Kids we collect many items from empty ink cartridges, cell phones, dvd’s,cd’s and laptop computers just to name a few of the items. We collect these items year round, but we have a 6 week collection drive coming in February to see if we can collect $500 of these recycled products. If we do we receive a once a year bonus check just for collecting.
All the money we receive from these companies goes toward our Green School initiatives at West Maple.
