In Class:  Science Fiction Book Talks by Ann Truesdell, our Media Specialist; Our students will work in Literature Circles for our Science Fiction Unit, which means that they will work in groups, and will choose their books based on their interest, our approval of books they can choose from and your approval as well.  All group members will have to read the same novel.  Our students will be given a Novel Selection sheet on which they will be able to give us an idea about which book(s) they are interested in.   7/8 Language Arts has copies of the novels The Time Machine, The Giver, and Fahrenheit 451 for your children to use and read.  We will also have some copies of  The Ender’s Game.  We are also giving them the opportunity to choose the following novels that they can either find in another library (we has a few copies in our Media Center):  The Uglies by Scott Westerfield, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, Unwind by Neil Schusterman, Turnabout by Margaret Peterson Hattix.  There are also a few more novels we are considering but have not yet made a decision about at this time.  Novel Selectin Sheets will be handed out at this time.
